Hey, my name is Danielle and I am Ali’s sister. Ali is my 30 year old younger sister who is a mom of two beautiful girls, 1 and 3 and a successful small business owner as a massage therapist. She is currently out of work because of her surgeries and she is just very weak from being ill. On July 17th, Ali was admitted to the hospital for shortness of breath and chest pain secondary to COVID. Following the routine scans we learned Ali had a mass in her chest and a pericardial effusion (swelling around her heart). Fast forward a week, Ali had a follow up echo of her heart to show she had a critical heart incident called a cardiac tamponade- resulting in a surgery to reduce the pressure and swelling around her heart. This was called a VATS procedure and they removed the fluid from around the heart, biopsied the chest mass and placed a chest tube. 2 weeks later our worst fears were written before our eyes. CANCER. Ali had been diagnosed with diffuse large B cell non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Thankfully, stage 1 B localized to her chest. Since then, she has had a PET scan, bone marrow biopsy, several tests and scans, a port placement, and several follow ups for oncology, cardiac, surgical, and general doctors. She will start chemo this week and we are anxious to start and finish this process. Thank God for Covid that exacerbated her symptoms enough to find these tumors. I am making this post because family and friends have asked how they can support. Us as her family, are asking for prayers first but if you would like to support her in regards to her medical expenses and as we joke… her wig fund. We would appreciate the support, love, and continued prayers for her recovery. Alongside all of this, her husband Bo whom holds the insurance policy for the family was in his first 90 days at a new job so there has been a lapse in the insurance coverage. These donations would help them while some of these procedures will not be covered by the new policy that has taken affect. Thank you for reading, sharing, and loving on Ali.
