Alin Gafencu Medical Fund

Our dear friend, Alin Gafencu and his family are in need of prayers and financial support for medical expenses.

On January 24, 2023 Alin underwent surgery for Total Jaw Replacement and reconstruction of the condyle bone. The surgery is an attempt to relieve complications that include painful pressure and clear ongoing infection to the right side of Alin’s face. We are hopeful Alin will regain his hearing back after he makes a full recovery. Following this surgery, Alin will continue to receive ongoing overbite treatment/procedures and extensive Speech Therapy to regain function and mobility to his jaw.

**FAMILY** Alin and his wife, Irina Adriana live in Dallas, TX with their four beautiful children; Abby, Brianna, Chelsea and Damian. Alin is the sole income provider to their family, while Adriana has been a stay-at-home mom and homeschooling their 4 kids. Post-operation and journey to recovery means Adriana will place everything on hold to be alongside Alin as they navigate his treatment plan and intensive therapy ahead.

**BACKSTORY** Alin was in a major car accident in 2006. The accident resulted in severe injury to his face and jaw structure. Recovery included facial reconstruction surgery of the condyle jaw with a rib bone. Over the years, the rib bone placed in the jaw has disintegrated and caused a major, ongoing infection. Recent issues and complications include infection spreading to the right side of the face, pressing on the nerves and causing both severe pain and hearing loss in the right ear.

After more than a year of pain management and a long awaited prosthetic part to be made, he finally underwent total jaw replacement surgery on Jan. 24, 2023.

**RECOVERY** Alin is currently still in the hospital recovering from the surgery. Doctors are continuing to monitor for blood clots and complications. During his time of recovery, Alin will continue an intense medical treatment plan and speech therapy to regain strength and capability in his jaw. The hope is that this surgery will yield basic ability of daily life function… in both speech and jaw mobility.
