Alicia's New Wheels - All Bodies Deserve Mobility!

Donation protected
Hello! I'm Alicia, a 25 year old queer disabled woman living in Sheffield. I'm currently raising money to buy a new wheelchair! I started using a wheelchair to help with mobility about a year ago, after my chronic illness deteriorated,  but it became clear early on that the manual wheelchair that I was gifted in a local facebook group was not made with my body in mind.

My current chair is a mess. Not only does it not fit my body but it breaks almost every time I use it.  It's currently being held together by parcel tape. (In this photo it's also missing a wheel!) This often results in weeks of being trapped inside.

Through this fundraiser I hope to be able to afford a new (second hand) electric wheelchair! Not only will this mean I can be sure that the chair is suitable for my body and fits well but having an electric chair with give me a lot more freedom. I will be able to get out of my flat by myself and not have to rely on friends if I want to go on a walk or pick up some shopping - something that has been difficult to arrange during covid!

As an unwaged person this goal is very much impossible without the help of my friends and community. I really appreciate anything you are able to give towards my goal, thank you!

Love and solidarity,

Alicia
