Update: Help Us Get Alicia the Care She Desperately Needs

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who has shared, donated, and sent prayers and well wishes. Your kindness has been a source of strength during a time that has shaken our family to its core.

We are reaching out again today with an urgent update: Alicia now needs to travel across the country to receive life-saving care that is not covered by insurance. This is a critical next step in her medical journey, and without it, her condition will continue to worsen. The costs of travel, treatment, and temporary housing are overwhelming — but this care gives us hope.

At the same time, our day-to-day life continues back home. With Alicia unable to work, me having to be home more and medical bills skyrocketing, everyday expenses — mortgage, utilities, groceries, childcare for the kids — are starting to pile up. It’s a burden we never imagined we’d be carrying alone.

Alicia has spent over 14 years bringing new life into the world as a labor and delivery nurse, and most recently, she’s served as a school nurse—devoting the last year and a half to protecting and nurturing our children in the classroom. Her life’s work has been about showing up for others. Now, she needs all of us to show up for her.

This isn’t easy to ask, but we are asking from the deepest place in our hearts: please help us get Alicia the treatment she needs and help our family stay afloat during this unimaginable time. Every donation, every share, every prayer — it truly makes a difference.

As most of you have heard, our dear friend and neighbor, Alicia McIntyre, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to her liver. As a compassionate community, we are coming together to rally behind Alicia, her husband Brett, and their four children to provide support during this challenging time.

Alicia and Brett have always been willing to step up—whether volunteering at their neighborhood events, supporting local schools, or serving in their church. As a school nurse and an active community member, Alicia has always dedicated herself to caring for others. Now, they need our help.

Alicia’s Treatment: Alicia will begin chemotherapy immediately, and in the coming months, doctors will assess the possibility of surgery. She is currently still in the hospital, but they are hoping to have her home this Saturday.

The Road to Recovery: In times like these, community support can make an incredible difference. That’s why we have established this fundraiser to help Alicia and her family focus on what truly matters—her health and their time together.
