Alicia James major surgery recovery fund

Alicia James desperately needs our financial help!  She unexpectedly had to have major back surgery last month. After exhausting all of her leave days and savings, she will not have any salary coming in for the next several months while she is in recovery. She will not have money to pay for her mortgage, utilities, and food, not to mention the medical bills that will begin to pile up.  

What happened to Alicia, in her own words...
“15 years ago I had a major back surgery that changed my life. Since then I have done everything that I can to take care of myself so I would not have to go through a traumatic event like that again. However, in early August I developed crippling pain in my back that shot down my legs. I tried to look for any solution that I could find without having to have a surgery again but nothing worked.  I had to have a second major back surgery on Aug 25. The surgeons told me that the surgery was difficult because I had old rods in my back that had to be taken out and replaced and have 3 fusions.  Thankfully I am alive for my son who is the most important thing to me. The doctor gave me a timeline of 4-6 months to recover. The extreme pain I had prior to the surgery is gone but from complications of such a major surgery I developed a hernia. I am not getting paid from work because I have used all of my sick days due to a prior illness. This makes it very hard when I have a mortgage bill to pay, along with other bills, and a son to take care of while he is going to school. I am a single parent and have no one else to help me and my son.”

Alicia James is a very dear friend of mine. Actually, she is more like family. I met her in 2007 at work. Not only is she one of the hardest working people I have ever met, but Alicia is one of the most inspirational as well. She has made a beautiful life for herself, moving from Colombia, becoming a US citizen, teaching herself the English language, working her way up and currently holding an office manager position in an elementary school. She does all she can to help people, personally and professionally. She has the most genuine heart and kind soul. And now she needs our help.

Any money contributed to this fund will be used to pay for Alicia’s mortgage, utilities, medical bills, and food.
