Alicia (15) needs scoliosis treatment abroad

My 15 year old daughter Alicia desperately needs treatment for  idiopathic scoliosis, a serious progressive deformity of the spine, which in the last couple of years has worsened drastically. She suffers from back pain pretty much constantly, and it’s been like that for 4-5 years.

At 10 years old  my daughter started complaining about pain in her lower back. No Doctors or health practitioners could find out why or help her.

At 12 years old her shoulder where obvious taller than the other one. It looked like she was leaning to one side all the time. Then her doctor sent her  to the hospital for x-rays. She were now diagnosed of  idiopathic scoliosis - idiopathic meaning “the reason has not yet been determined” and “scoliosis” referring to the spine curving and rotating three-dimensionally.    Alicia’s x-ray showed a 7 degree Cobb angle in her spine. At the next check six months later her curve had become 17 degrees. A year after the Cobb angle was 18 degree. We were told to just wait for a new check.  When we followed up, the hospital were shocked that my daughter’s spine had become 40 degree in 22 months.

Norway doesn’t have a treatment for her. The only option here is to wait until her curvature worsens further (to 45-50 degrees), and then perform surgery, which in Alicia’s case would be our last resort since it doesn’t address root cause and it not likely to address her pain issues. And it frightens her a lot because its a risky surgery with unknown results.

In some other countries, they have treatment options that can stop the deterioration of the disease, reduce the pain, and even reduce the curvature - without surgery. The families pay for this themselves, as it’s not covered in the Norwegian health system.
We don’t have the funds for this, and I am not able to take a loan to cover it as my income is too low, and I am the sole provider for my daughter.

After much research we have found  Scoliosis Care Center  in the  United States who can offer the best help for her.
Scoliosis Care Centers would be able to reduce the curvature on Alicia’s spine drastically 75-90% at least, if she gets treatment soon. It’s going to take time and effort over about 2 years, but it will be worth it.
The results that this clinic are getting are ground breaking in the world of scoliosis.

The latest research and clinical evidence indicate that what has to be done to hold scoliosis curve reduction long term is more sophisticated and comprehensive than previously realized; this clinic do everything out of necessity to win against the powerful driving force of the scoliosis as well as address root cause.

Alicias case is set up to be a success story if we start treatment very soon. Even though this will demand hard work from her with home therapy and exercise taking at least 1 hour every day for the next year,  she is prepared to put in that discipline and huge effort for a functional spine and a pain-free life.

Thank you for sharing this as it raises awareness of scoliosis and may help a future patient with early detection – the best way to address scoliosis, stopping curves in their tracks at the earliest of stages. Scoliosis Care Centers now know how to detect curves at the age of 7 or 8 years old, our hope is these clinics being a mainstream solution in the future for all children.
If you can help Alicia in any way, we would be very grateful.
