Jude and Lottie's Alicante Half Marathon

Hi! We’re Jude and Lottie and we will be running the Alicante Half Marathon on the 16th February 2025 to raise money for Breast Friends Northamptonshire and Macmillan Cancer Support. Both charities have supported two incredible women that mean a lot to us and our friend Karla – Kim and Kirsty – one who is continuing to fight and one who sadly lost her battle last year. We share their stories below.

I’m Kim, and Jude is my brother. On the 16th May 2024 I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at just 32 years old. It was a shock and something I had never anticipated to happen to me. With all the emotions and fears relating to the treatment I would need (chemo, radiotherapy, surgery and immunotherapy), I reached out to breast friends Northampton who support me and spent the time chatting with me about what to expect and where to get some support. I received both a chemo bag and a radiotherapy bag from them, which included all the essentials needed to get me through both treatments. Along with personally chatting to some of the amazing volunteers, all of whom have had breast cancer, I was pointed to their Facebook page, where I could ask questions about treatment and get the support from others who have been through what I have been through.
Cancer is one of the scariest journeys, for anyone to encounter, and being as young as I am, I was more scared than ever for the future! Breast friends supported me and encouraged me in ways that brought hope and peace to my journey. My journey is still ongoing and I still have contact with those from breast friends, I couldn’t have done this without them!
Thanks to those who can donate, to this AMAZING charity!!

Kirsty was a bright, warm, fun loving and caring person. A much-loved Sister, partner and Mother. Passed away after the return of her breast Cancer, at the age of 56. Macmillan provided invaluable support to her during her initial diagnosis and with the resurgence of the illness. They provided specialist advice and support to Kirsty when she most needed it. They also supported both her parents who also died of Cancer. She was so grateful for their help that she completed a marathon with her close friend, in 2019, to help support this incredibly worthwhile charity. We rely on Macmillan and the hospice network to provide these services, and they in turn rely largely on donations. Please support Jude and Lottie in their half marathon attempts so that MacMillan can continue to provide these crucial services.
Many thanks,
Wendy (Kirsty's Sister)
