Those who know Aliah, know she is just the sweetest, most upbeat little girl who could turn your frown upside down in a matter of seconds. She is 12 years old and the middle sibling who loves and adores her family.
Aliah started having arm pains (April&May) closer to the shoulder. She’d gone to the doctor a couple times and was sent home. The doctors didn’t think anything of it.
The last week of June she was over at Shaylena’s (me) house playing a friendly game of basketball with her brother, where she’d ended up falling and scraping her knee and hurting that same arm. My grandparents knew she needed to be brought in because she’s too young to behaving arm pains as bad and as often as she was. At the hospital they did x-rays where they’d found a tumor growing in her bone. Her arm was broken from the tumor pushing out. From that point on she has been traveling to and from Duluth. She went through a biopsy to find out more information on the tumor. Results came back and we’d learned the heartbreaking news that Aliah was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. A type of bone cancer that begins in the cells that form bones.
Osteosarcoma most often occurs in the long bones that make up the arms and legs, though it can occur in any bone. It tends to occur in children and young adults. Hearing this news Aliahs world was turned upside down. She is worried scared and nervous for the upcoming treatments she has to go through. Aliah is scheduled to start Chemotherapy July 3rd, and will not be able to celebrate the Fourth of July the way she absolutely wanted to. Aliah and her grandparents could use all the prayers and help with travel expenses, medical expenses, and hotel costs while they are to and from Duluth. Please pray for Aliah while she continues through these 11 months of Chemo and that she pulls through like the strong girl she is. ♥️
