Ali's Journey

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Tracy and I am Allistair's sister-in-law.  I am creating this GoFundMe page for Allistair and his family as I don't believe it is fair for any family to have to go through this.  Unfortunately, sometimes it becomes a part of life and we all have to learn to adjust, adapt, and keep moving forward towards the new way of living until things get better.

Allistair is 39 years young, married to his wife Stacy and has 2 little boys who are 7 and 5 years old.  His youngest boy has a rare brain disorder and genetic syndrome called Rubinstein Taybi Syndrome.  To support Ashton's needs and help him develop, Ali and Stacy incur significant monthly costs for various therapies.  Having this extra cost makes it even harder for Allistair to be able to get the treatment he needs for himself without having to worry about financials.

Allistair was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in the beginning of December.  It came as a surprise to him as well as to all his family and friends.  Allistair first realized that something was not quite right when he was having stomach pains every so often thinking that he was drinking too much pop and coffee.  He tried to stop drinking those things to see if his stomach pains would go away.  After a month the pain still did not go away so Allistair made an appointment to see his family doctor.  His doctor sent him in for a colonoscopy to have it checked out suspecting it was Crohns or Colitis. It was during his colonoscopy that a tumor in his colon was found.

The next few days were stressful, waiting for the results and a CT was expedited thankfully.  The results of the CT came in and Allistair was called in and told that he unfortunately had stage 4 colon cancer and it had spread into his abdominal cavity, liver and lymph nodes, with a small spot on his lung.  As heartbreaking as this is, Allistair is prepared for the fight!  He has a great support group around him near and far as his immediate family resides in South Africa.

While waiting for chemotherapy treatment to start, Allistair and Stacy did alot of research and decided that a Naturopathic Doctor could also help him with his fight and will be working closely with his doctor and oncologist for his overall treatment plan.  Medical coverage in Canada does not cover naturopathic treatments therefore Allistair is having to pay out of pocket now that their extended health benefit maximums have been reached.  There are 2 main treatments that are highly recommended for him at this time and are called:

1) Vitamin C IV Therapy - ($200 per session: 2-3 sessions per week) this is when a high-dose of vitamin C is given by intravenous thru a vein into the blood stream.  When taken by intravenous infusion, vitamin C can reach much higher levels in the blood than when the same amount is taken by mouth.

Why Allistair needs this?- He needs this because it will help with his adrenal glands, maintain energy levels, improve and protect his skin, strengthen tendons and bones, boost his immune system and fight chemotherapy side effects with the power of the high dose vitamin C.

2) Ozone Therapy - ($150 per session:  2-3 sessions per week) Ozone therapy refers to the process of administering ozone gas into his body to treat the cancer.  Ozone is a colorless gas made up of three atoms of oxygen (O3).  It can be used to treat the cancer by stimulating the immune system and can also be used to disinfect and treat the disease.

Why does Allistair need this? - Ozone therapy works by disrupting unhealthy processes in the body and it can help stop the growth of bacteria that are harmful.  Ozone therapy also helps flush out infected cells. Once the body rids itself of these infected cells, it produces new, healthy ones.  We are trying to get Allistair to flush out the toxins in his blood so he can have "fresh" blood before and during chemotherapy.

His naturopathic treatments alone are costing at least $2800 per month.  He is also needing multiple supplements to help him heal before and after chemotherapy which are an extra added expense for the family.  Some examples of just a few of his supplements that he requires are Chaga, Chorella, Citrus Pectin, Black Seed Oil, SAT Liver Pills - Milk thistle,Cynara scolymus, Circuminoids, Naltrexone.  These are just a few supplements that he needs to take on a daily basis, not to mention all of the different essential oils he needs as well.  The average cost per month for the supplements and oils will be approximately $400.

Between Allistair's treatments and trying to maintain Ashton's therapies, the family is starting to feel the financial burden and is stressing about having to choose what they can and cannot do.  Allistair and his family aren't the kind of family who like to ask for help and like to take things under their own wings if they can.  However, this is something that they cannot control and Allistair needs all the support and help he can get at this time.

We are thanking you ahead of time if you are able to help contribute anything.  No donation is too small, and if you cannot help donate anything at this time I am asking if you can please share this gofundme on your social media with friends and family so we can show Allistair and Stacy that we are all fighting with them to help Allistair get well again.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
