Ali's Fight
On July 12, 2018, my sister, Alison, was diagnosed with Stage 3C Ovarian Cancer and had emergency surgery five days later. She underwent a full hysterectomy, her omentum and spleen were removed, as well as a portion of her colon. She was told that she would need one year of chemotherapy.
A year later, two weeks before her last chemo treatment, a CT scan revealed that four lymph nodes in her abdomen increased in size. A PET scan and biopsy confirmed that the cancer had moved into her lymph nodes, and would require another six months of chemo. Though this news was shattering, Alison was determined to keep fighting, but now, almost two years after her initial diagnosis, we learned that Alison’s tumor count continues to rise.
Wether you know Alison through work, her social media presence, or school- she has had an impact on all of our lives. She is an inspiration to women within her community, and continues to be an advocate for all women fighting this horrible disease. Alison has a beautiful and gentle soul that radiates every time she walks into a room. Prior to being diagnosed, Alison dedicated her life to help provide for our family. There isn’t anything that she hasn’t done to help my two sisters and I.
I’ve always known Alison is a strong woman, and her strength these past 2 years have amazed me. Her perseverance and grace are admirable by all who know her. But after several rounds of chemo, her body can take no more. Alison has decided to turn to alternative medicine, which unfortunately, is not covered by insurance. We are reaching out to ask for your help to get Alison on a path of healing. We understand that these are challenging times for everyone, and we appreciate any contribution you can make. Every bit counts.
Cancer may have started this fight, but Ali will finish it. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for all of the love and support that everyone has already shown my sister
