Ali Khemili Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
As most of you know, my father Ali had a large stroke on the right side of his brain last September. Although it thankfully left him with his wits and personality, his left side remains paralyzed. Through the help of family, friends, dedicated Nurses, Doctors, and Nurse Aids Ali has made a lot of improvement. My father worked extremely hard his whole life coming from Tunisia to France to the U.S. to become a pharmacist. When I was growing up he worked 12 hour days 6 days a week. He gave his children everything. He started an NGO to promote his country's culture. He even got Tunisian American day to be recognized by U.S. Congress. He had just retired and was living the life he wanted when the stroke came along. Luckily, being a pharmacist had it's perks and he had some money saved--but our health care system is flawed. Insurance only covers therapy for 100 days. It only covers Rehabilitation/Nursing home fees for the same amount of time. They deem you as someone who is "not getting better" and cast you to the side. Nursing home fees (with insurance) costed around 15,000 a month. He has been in care for over a year now. We have said goodbye to our savings, my childhood home, cars, and anything else my dad spent 70 years working for. I had a hard time making this page, because it is not my father's style to ask for help, it's more likely for him to give. However there was an outpouring of love and support from so many people around the world wanting to help. If you choose, giving any amount will be extremely helpful for my dad to continue treatment. He is a fighter, they weren't even sure he would even survive. But he's here, and he still knows 3 languages and the generic names of all his medicines and what they do. Your help would be greatly appreciated, and would 100% go to his treatment expenses. My dad coming home would be a dream come true, and I know it's possible. He will be back with the Tunisian Community Center, traveling and promoting friendship again soon. If you can't donate, please share! Anything helps. Thank you for your time and concern, I am here to pass along messages to him as well.
