Ali Aplin running the London Marathon 2022

My original plan to run the London Marathon back in 2020 was delayed due to Covid, but I will be running this year’s London Marathon in October. I am raring to go and apprehensive in equal measure!
I will be running the London Marathon 2022 in memory of my godfather Tim Cherry.
You could say my running ‘story’ began over 10 years ago on a family holiday in Portugal with Tim and his family. I made an offhand, half-hearted comment about attempting some sort of exercise and thought nothing else of it. The next day Tim announced with a wicked grin that he was taking me on a run. My brain seems to have blocked out most of that memory apart from the part where Tim insisted I sprint the last 200 metres home and finish strong; let’s just say it did not end pleasantly.
Tim was a much loved family doctor and saw the fantastic and invaluable work that Macmillan Cancer Team has done over the years for cancer sufferers and their families. Later he would experience their very focused care and support during his own treatment.
With your help and support I will raise as much money as I absolutely can to help this incredible charity support anyone affected by this horrible and cruel disease.
Thank you in advance and it truly means a huge amount and is greatly appreciated - I'll make sure I do Tim proud.
