Ali and Rob need a new boiler

I'm Ali. I work a retail job while my husband is a freelance artist(he is chronically ill, so cannot work a normal job). We live in my late mother-in-law's home. A home that wasn't well-kept. The boiler has been giving us problems for awhile now with leaks and failing to start up due to lack of care and maintenance. The unit itself is over 25 years old and the piping is older than that. An employee for the oil company told us that it was a fire hazard, and a plumber informed us that the leaks are now severe and the whole unit will need to be replaced along with the leaking pipes. We cannot afford to do this outright, and though we can finance it, the bulk of the repairs will be costly. Right now, we have a space heater for heat and in order to take a hot shower, we have to use a 'camp shower' setup in the bathtub.

We feel ashamed to have to resort to a go-fund-me for this kind of situation, but with winter here and it already feeling cold, we kind of need a functioning boiler. We've been reluctant to act sooner, as we wanted to do this on our own, but circumstances have forced us to do this.

This is the unit in question. Rough, rusty and leaky.

Update

The oil company sent someone over last week. The estimate given was between 9500 and 10K. There was brief talk of financing options, but the best option was to have a big chunk of the money up front and then financing the rest of it. I know this is a big ask, but options are scarse.
