Alfredo Liotta's Memorial
Donation protected
Dear all,
My name is Elizabeth Liotta and I am a Venezuelan conservatory student at Bard College. I am doing this fundraiser because on August 9th and 10th of 2021, my great-grandmother Clemencia Linares and my father Alfredo Liotta died in Maracay, Venezuela because of the COVID pandemic, and now my family is struggling with economic issues that they can't face on their own. We're all deeply devastated by my father's and great-grandmother's passing.
Before the pandemic hit, Venezuela was already undergoing a socio-economic crisis and extreme levels of hyperinflation that left my family economically broken. Currently, the minimum salary in Venezuela is $2,22 per month (0,074 dollars per day). Since my mom lost her job because of being at the hospital with my dad, I am now the main economic support of my family. In the light of this critical situation, I am seeking economic help so that I can help my mother sustain herself and take care of all the expenses connected to my father’s death.
As an international student who can only work part-time on campus during the semester, I haven’t been able to afford a plane ticket to go back home since I came to Bard two years ago for my freshman year. Because my loved ones could not have a proper funeral because of COVID restrictions, my friends at Bard Conservatory and I are organizing a benefit concert so that we can get help for my family as well as an opportunity to say good-bye.
Please consider donating if you are able to do so. We are so very grateful for every donation during this difficult time.
Respectfully,
Elizabeth
