We are deeply saddened by the untimely and sudden passing of our friend Alfonso Gomez, 43. Alfonso was the devoted and loving husband of Maricela and father of Adrian, Joel and 4-month-old Vanessa. Alfonso literally beamed with pride every day when sharing his love for his family; their shocking loss is unimaginable.  They will miss him at every soccer match, at every family meal, at bedtime, at special occasions...each and every day.

Alfonso was a long-time employee of the City of Irvine Public Works Department and, more recently, an employee of the City of Anaheim Public Works Department. He was a valuable team member and highly respected for his work at both organizations.  More importantly, Alfonso was simply one of the nicest people any of us will ever meet.  His co-workers and friends always knew they would be greeted with his infectious smile and a light-hearted quip to brighten their day. In his own soft-spoken way, his kind soul always found a way to brighten our day. He often had stories to share, whether they be new financial tips or the everyday adventures of raising his and Maricela's three young children. 
 
The void we all feel from the sudden loss of our dear friend can never be filled; however, we can honor that friendship and his memory by helping his lovely family at this difficult time. The loss we feel pales in comparison to Maricela's loss of her loving husband and the children's loss of their doting father. Supporting the Gomez family is the least we could think to do. All funds donated will go directly to Maricela to help the family with expenses as they begin to cope with this unimaginable loss.
