Supporting Alfie's Wishlist - Super League ROAR!

Hi,

My name is Matt and I'd like to introduce you to an inspirational young boy from Leigh called Alfie Sales.

In 2018 at the age of 3, Alfie was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a progressive muscle wasting disease that sadly has no cure.

Leigh Leopards fan Alfie, aged 11 came to the rugby league community's attention during a recent segment on the Super League Raw Weekly podcast. Inspired by Alfie's story, I reached out to his Dad, Kieron to discuss how I could aim to raise funds to support Alfie and also to raise awareness of his condition.

In May 2025, both myself and Kieron ran the Great Manchester 10k together to start the fundraising for 'Alfie's Wishlist'. Alfie has put together his wishlist of things he'd like to do with his family so they can make lasting memories together.

Alfie has already started to tick some items off his wishlist, he visited Madam Tussaud's in June and in August, he and his family are off to London to watch The Lion King followed by a trip to Legoland Windsor on the way home! All thanks to the Super League Raw community and beyond!

Alfie's next aim is to watch a football game at Paris St Germain followed by meeting his Liverpool FC heroes and walking out as a mascot on the hallowed turf at Anfield.

During the Summer Holidays, Alfie is helping Super League Raw plan a fundraising event that will take place in November 2025. Alfie has appealed to the Rugby League community for signed merchandise that can be auctioned at the event. The response so far has been amazing and it has seen Alfie appear on Granada Reports!
