Hi, my name is Dale Marsden and I am the Commercial Manager at Golcar United AFC.

We recently learned of the passing of one of our dedicated fans, 16 year old Alfie Firth.

Alfie was present for almost every home and away match for the first team, and attended many matches for the reserve and ladies teams. He was a huge part of our football family and a person we will sorely miss. Alfie would always engage in conversations related to football, whether it be Golcar United or his first love, Huddersfield Town.

Due to the sudden and unexpected passing of Alfie, Golcar United have decided to donate all proceeds raised from gate receipts from our upcoming match vs Thackley AFC (Sat 26th September) to his family in order to assist with funeral and memorial costs.

We recently posted a small obituary on our social media platforms advising of our plan to donate but have received many requests to donate to Alfie’s family who are unable to attend the match.

Therefore, with agreement from Alfie’s parents after a request from a close family friend (Aidan McCrystal), we have set up this donation page to contribute towards funeral costs and memorial for those unable to attend but wish to help.
