Alexys' New Heart Fund

Donation protected
Alexys is a 16 year old young lady who was born with a rare heart condition that has resulted in several surgeries throughout her life with the first one being when she was just a tiny baby. Alexys has always had annual visits sometimes twice yearly visits with the cardiologist and that always equals blood works and some imaging of her heart to see how things are going and usually some adjustments to meds. Along the way there have been a few surgeries and Alexys has always handled them like a champ!  Alexys is a very intelligent, kind, caring, young lady who loves life and has lived her life to the fullest. While her condition has slowed her down at times, Alexys has tried really hard to not allow her heart to stop her from doing the things she loves, that is until recently when her heart started failing her. Just last week at the end of January 2020 Alexys was admitted to the hospital and after just a couple of days there they were told that it is now time to fly to Seattle to be bumped to the top of the transplant list because her heart is failing and has become to weak to support her body. Alexys was unable to keep any food down due to her heart failing and not pumping enough oxygen through her blood for her internal organs to function and digest the food she was consuming so her body just threw it up. This has all happened really fast as just a year ago everything seemed to be going just fairly well, but just the last 6 months things drastically took a turn and changed very quickly. Ryan and Rachelle are Alexys' parents, they work full time and provide excellent health insurance for her. But as you can imagine taking time off work for appointments and an unexpected pick up right now and fly to Seattle on Life Flight trip gets very expensive very quick. Alexys has a younger sister Kyla who is one of her biggest supporters as well, and as you can imagine has a hard time seeing her sister like this. Alexys has to remain in the hospital from now until she receives a heart and then once the surgery takes place there is a long recovery ahead!! That will equal time off of work which Ryan and Rachelle are trying to alternate who is in Seattle with Alexys so that one of them is always working to bring in income and to keep their insurance. No parent should have to worry about going to work to pay their bills or be with their child in the hospital. The family is trying really hard to make it on their own but the expense of a surgery and health journey like this is extremely overwhelming. Anything you can do to help is appreciated more than you know!! We have created a Facebook Page to keep everyone updated on Alexys' Heart Journey if you would like to follow along.
