Alexy's Fight Against Cancer and Baby's NICU Stay
Donation protected
Our dear friend Alexy Hughes Marchant and her husband Peyton are faced with a very difficult trial.
In October, while Alexy and Peyton were eagerly awaiting the birth of their first baby, Alexy started having pain in her abdomen. It was initially thought that her gall bladder was inflamed and she would potentially have to have it removed.
As further tests were done, the doctors found a mass on her liver. A few weeks later, she was diagnosed with stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma, an extremely rare and aggressive type of cancer.
Alexy had an emergency C-section at 32 weeks and gave birth to a healthy baby boy. He is in the NICU most likely for a month or more to continue to grow and develop. She is currently recovering in the hospital and planning to start chemotherapy right before Christmas.
Her baby is currently doing well in the NICU, but due to the pain from the cancer she has very limited time throughout the day in which she can see and interact with him.
Throughout this whole situation, Alexy has always put the needs of her baby over her personal health and comfort. To those who know Alexy, this comes as no surprise.
Alexy and Peyton have a difficult battle ahead filled with uncertainty and unexpected medical costs. Many loved ones and friends have asked how they can help. Even though Alexy was reluctant to agree to starting a GoFundMe, it was decided that this is a way that people can help. Alexy and her family are incredibly grateful for all the love and support already shown toward them during this difficult time.
