Alexx Quattrone and family
Donation protected
Hello everyone. I am trying to raise some financial support for Alexx, Lauren, and their baby, Harper. On 11/13/22 while hunting, Alexx fell from his 20' treestand. Upon initial imaging it was declared he has broke his back in 3 places L1-L3. He has compression fractures and his vertebrae has collapsed. As a result of this, he has undergone emergency surgery where they placed an "internal brace". The hope is this will offer enough stability to prevent any additional vertebrae collapsing. If they collapse he is facing permanent paralysis. If they remain stable, he is facing another surgery in 4 months to remove the brace and place a spinal rod with pins and screws. In addition to the spinal injury, he has also suffered a IVC (inferior vena cava) injury that was initially diagnosed as an active bleed. This is the largest vein in the body and is responsible for adequate blood flow between the lower extremities and chest, it is behind the abdomen and on the right side of his aorta. Upon arrival to the trauma center in Rochester they have determined that the IVC injury is a hematoma (a collection of blood clots that pool together in a pocket) within the vein. I blood clot that travels to his lungs could be fatal so they are taking precautions to prevent such from happening. If this becomes a greater concern there is a potential for another surgery to place a filter in the vein to allow blood flow but trap the clot from passing. We are trying to raise financial support for medical travel as well as making their home safe and handicap accessible. There are medical expenses that will come with this like any other. Alexx will be unable to work for the foreseeable future at this point. They are limited to 1 income, and Lauren is having to take time away from work for the hospital stay and the many follow up visits that are to come. We are hopeful for in-home physical therapy and skilled nursing, but until they are ready to discharge Alexx, there is no way of knowing if this is an option or if they will have to receive rehabilitation in a skilled facility. We appreciate you all and thank you for any donation, positive thoughts, well wishes, and prayers you're willing to send. From our whole family, we appreciate the calls and messages already received.
