Alex's Meal Plan for Scotland

Donation protected
WHAT IS THE MONEY GOING TO?  (if you're my mom, or want to know more of what's going on, scroll down ;))
This coming fall I will be traveling to  ABERDEEN, SCOTLAND to be an assistant Student Minister at MANNOFIELD CHURCH OF SCOTLAND for 2016-2017.
Princeton Theological Seminary and Mannofield Church have been so gracious to provide for housing, electricity,  and some travel costs, etc. The only thing I need to fundraise is for FOOD (and any remaining travel costs). This means food for the week, for my flat, and for any food purchases I spend when meeting community members for dinner/coffee. In other words, all the money I fundraise will go to make sure I stay well fed, which will remind me to not only be thankful for the food in front of me, but to be thankful for all those who are putting the food on the table for me. :) All funds will be need to be raised by July 31st!

SO HOW CAN YOU BE A PART OF MY JOURNEY?
Aside from giving what you can for my coffee dates or for a week of food (or anything in between!) I want all of you to be a part of the journey and exciting formational experience I will be having. I have a blog I will be updating during my time there and pen pals will also be greatly appreciated! And of course, PRAYER. Continually praying for God's spirit to be present with me and the community surrounding me is greatly appreciated and encouraged (regardless if you are able to give or not :). )
For those who would like to assist me on a monthly basis, give the initial donation and then just email me and I will make sure to account it as such :)

WHY ARE YOU GIVING AGAIN? SO WHAT'S GOING ON?
My undergraduate career was formative in showing me how God was working in the global church. I began to resonate with God’s heart for the global church, and I want to be aware not only of how God is working in my local community, but of God’s presence outside of my own environment. I believe this international experience is important to my personal formation for it will not only allow me to become a more mature and seasoned individual, but it will also affect both my personal development and how I minister to any future community. During my time in Scotland, I will encounter more aspects of God’s vision for the global church and what my part is in that vision. Through this international experience, I believe God will either confirm my calling and my desire to serve the global church, or God will lead me to see where God may be calling me elsewhere. I trust that going abroad and experiencing more of the global church is an essential component of how this clarity will emerge.
My heart yearns to be in a community of believers, and waiting another three years before I can become a full-time pastor sounds like a long time from now. I am excited for how this yearlong internship will offer me some experience in diving into my call to ministry. I also believe this placement will affirm my call to continue my education so I can be better trained before going out to the field full-time. I am excited to embark on these opportunities that are infused in my seminary education to serve and to further form what God envisions for my vocation and ministry. Though extending my time in graduate school to four years would seem difficult, it is ultimately a thoughtful and committed effort to prepare to think, live, and serve most effectively. It will expand my opportunities and connect me with people who will need my service, as I see this as an opportunity to responsibly prepare myself for my service to future congregations.
