Hi everyone, for those of you who don’t know already, my name is Jenna and I am Alex’s girlfriend. We live together in a beautiful community of Hawkins Lake.
I have never done this before and I don’t really know where to start… Last night on January 15th Alex’s truck caught fire we think by the block heater. Sadly, it burned down and is totalled. Alex spent a lot of effort trying to put it out before the fire department arrived and were thankfully able to extinguish it.
Alex loved this truck and had put a lot of effort and money trying to improve it over the years. He went all the way to Vancouver island to buy it and worked hard to make that truck his own and to have little to no body or mechanical issues. Moreover, he was using it as a source of income gathering firewood for families around the 100 mile house area. The loss of this truck has made him unable to collect wood. Aside from the truck being a source of income, he really utilized the full abilities of a 1-ton truck towing, picking up hay for me, pulling people out if stuck etc.
What was even more of a hit to him after watching his truck burn, was that his truck was not insured at the time of the fire. While he normally does have this truck insured, he has a smaller ranger that he had recently used to commute for work. He was advised at the insurance agency to switch his insurance from the larger one to the small one when he needed to use it rather than getting permits here and there. He was trying to do the right thing by keeping insurance on the vehicle he was actively driving. While Alex does have this smaller truck and another car, he bought both of them as cheap projects and they are both unreliable in their own ways whether that be faulty headlights that leave you in the pitch dark or brakes that don’t work, they both have issues that come down to safety.
I am making this go-fund-me to help him get back on his feet with a safe vehicle. In a perfect world I would like to try and get him in a position that he can try to replace it with something that has a similar utility. That being said, even helping with $5 would mean a lot and I know I’m setting the bar fairly high here... At the very least, I am hoping to make the repairing of one of his project trucks less stressful and straining.
For those of you who don’t know, Alex is the kind of guy who is always willing to lend a helping hand. He loves to be there for the people in his life and is very loyal to commitments he makes even to a stranger. So that being said if you are able to help in any way, even if that’s just to share this, we would be very grateful. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and a special thank you to the fire crew and family who have already helped
