Alex’s Push for Change!
In May 2019 proffesional Skateboarder Ben Raemers took his own life. Ben was not only an incredible skateboarder but his contagious smile touched many people all around the world. Shortly after his passing, The Ben Raemers foundation was set up to help end the stigma surrounding mental health and support those within the skateboarding community to seek the right support, get a better understanding of mental health and prevent any further lives being lost to sucicide.
Ben Raemers was one of my favourite skateboarders and the news of his passing was a tragic shock not only to me but to many people within skateboarding. In an attempt to show my thanks to Ben for all the years of inspiration he has gave to me, I want to support The Ben Raemers Foundation by doing a sponsored skate for over a 100 miles from Birmingham down to London.
My plan is too start my skate journery at Digbeth in Birmingham where I met Ben back in 2015, I will then start making my way down to Victoria Raemers skatepark in London where my skate will finish. The journey will be spread over three days at most and I’ll only be stopping to eat, drink, and sleep.
Skateboarding and mental health have both been a big part of my Life. I hope by raising some money for The Ben Raemers foundation it will allow others to seek the help they need so they can get back to living a normal healthy life and we can finally end this stigma surround mental health.
Thank you all for your support!
