Alex's London to Paris Cycle Challenge

First off, thank you for taking the time to visit this page. I’d really appreciate it if you could spare a few minutes to read about the challenge I’ve set myself and the incredible charities your support will help.

So many people and families are impacted by cancer in its many forms. Like many of you, I’ve seen close friends and loved ones face this disease with courage and strength. Now it’s my turn to take on a challenge in honour of all those brave individuals and to help raise funds for two charities doing amazing work in this space.

Earlier this year, I was (perhaps foolishly) chatting with a couple of friends from Broadstone Cricket Club (big shout out to Ali Wallace and Stu Newcombe) about ways we could support cancer charities that mean a lot to us. What began as an idea for a local sponsored ride quickly escalated into something far bigger; a 500km cycle from London to Paris, over 4 days, in September 2025.

Here’s the twist: I’m starting from scratch. I’ve not properly ridden a bike in years, the last time was escorting the kids to the local park! But I’m now officially in training, with a new bike, plenty of sore muscles, and a growing tolerance for Lycra (apologies in advance to anyone who spots me pounding the roads around Dorset and Hampshire).

I’ve set a personal fundraising target of £1,500 and have covered the cost of the trip myself, so 100% of all donations will go directly to the following two charities (split 50:50):

1. FORCE Cancer Charity – A Devon-based charity founded in 1987, FORCE believes that everyone affected by cancer deserves the best possible support and care. They offer vital services to patients and their families, fund cancer research and provide professional help that makes a real difference in people’s lives. [www.ForceCancerCharity.co.uk]

2. Macmillan Cancer Support – A national charity offering physical, emotional, and financial support to people living with cancer. From expert nurses to practical advice and community programmes, Macmillan is there every step of the way, helping individuals and families through incredibly tough times. [www.macmillan.org.uk]

Thank you again for reading and if you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it will mean the world and go a long way in helping those who need it most.
