Hi everyone, I've again managed to nab a last-minute starting number for the Hans Christian Andersen Half-Marathon in Odense, my Danish home, on 28 September. A little over a year ago, our son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and our lives were turned upside-down. Type 1 just happens; nobody really knows why. The care and access to medical technology that he has received from the Danish medical system is just incredible and thanks to that, he can do everything an 8 year old should be able to do - he's unstoppable! We are aware of how very fortunate we are and just how inaccessible this quality of life is for people with Type 1 in many other parts of the world. Running last year's race knowing that over 10 000 DKK had been pledged to the World Diabetes Foundation for its work in lower-income countries was so motivating - let's try again this year, shall we? Game on!
