Alex's last-minute half-marathon for diabetes

Hi everyone, I managed to nab a last-minute starting number for the Hans Christian Andersen Half-Marathon in Odense, my Danish home, on 29 September. Our family life has just been turned upside-down by the discovery that our younger son has type 1 diabetes. Type 1 just happens; nobody really knows why. The care and access to medical technology that he has received from the Danish medical system is just incredible and will continue to be, so we can count ourselves extremely lucky.
