Alex's Graduate Thesis "Scenes with girls": Actors' Fund!

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to announce that I will be completing my MFA in Theatre Directing this October! This has been a dream of mine for many years, causing me to move to London and pursue two years of challenging and inspiring creative learning at East 15 Acting School. I am so grateful for the support of my family, friends, and many theatre communities throughout my life, without whom I would not be where I am today.

To culminate my graduate studies, I am directing a production of "Scenes with girls" by the wonderful contemporary British playwright, Miriam Battye. I'm sure many of you know, it takes a lot of money to put on a show! As it is an East 15 production, I receive some financial support and personnel resources (designers, stage manager, tech folks) through the school, for which I am so grateful.

However, the provided budget is not allowed to be used to pay the three incredible actors whom I have invited to join this project.

As a director and theatre maker, I am committed to compensating artists for their work. They are professionals in their chosen craft and deserve to be paid accordingly!

For this reason, I am asking for your help. I know that so many of you, if you could, would fly to London in a heartbeat to see the show and cheer me on! Obviously, this is not realistic (although, if anyone ever DOES come to London, be assured that you have a tour guide and a free place to stay)!

If you are someone who would buy a ticket if my production was happening within driving distance, I humbly ask that you instead contribute to this fund. For reference, a ticket to the show costs 12 pounds, about 15 US dollars. However, any amount that you are able to give would be greatly appreciated!

Please note that I will be donating 10% of whatever is raised on this platform to "Act Against Bullying," a leading anti-bullying charity in the UK, as themes in the play explore the long-term effects of bullying, particularly for girls.
