Hi, my name is Misty Millett and I am writing on behalf of the Wentzell family.
Though it's never easy to ask for help, we are hoping for our community to come together to support Alex and his family.
Alex is only 16, and is Rob and Leslie Wentzell's only child, who has recently been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, which his team of doctors say is a rare form of cancer not usually seen in children. Due to him needing extensive chemo treatment followed by weekly blood tests at the IWK in Halifax, both of his parents have been forced to miss work so they can be there to support him. We are hopeful the treatment will take, but there are chances it may not, in that case he will be forced to start radiation chemotherapy, and bone marrow transfusions, and this will likely be a lifetime battle for him.
Alex is a spunky young man with an old soul. Anyone that knows him, knows he would do anything for anyone. His kindness and maturity are very evident when having conversation with him. He loves anything outdoors, and is an avid sportsman in horseback archery. Alex is his parents world, and they are so very proud of him, and so very worried what the future might bring. They are heart broken with this news.
With Alex's diagnosis, his parents are forced to take at least the next couple of months off work, and therefore need some financial assistance from us.
Between fuel expenses from traveling back and forth from the valley, hotel expenses, food, and also still covering all the bills at home, we are hoping to raise 10,000$ to help ease the burden on this family so they can take their time to be with Alex and support him in his fight against cancer.
Any amount you can give, will greatly contribute to the family's peace of mind and help ease the financial burden during this difficult time, so they can focus on Alex's healing.
If you're not able to donate today, please share Alex's story so we can reach as many people as possible. The family will greatly appreciate any help we can offer while they take the necessary time to care for, and be there for their son.
Thank you for taking the time to read Alex's story.
