I can’t believe I’m announcing this, but I’ve been accepted to USC’s Film and TV Writing MFA! It's so exciting that I keep double checking that it’s my name at the top of the letter!
This is an actual dream come true and something I’ve been working towards for ten years. Since writing my first play in 2009, I've continuously pushed myself as a writer first in the theater industry and then in film and TV. I've been the recipient of the Big Vision Empty Wallet Playwriting Fellowship and winner of The Writers Digest Award in Playwriting and Tune in Time at The York Theater. I've also been a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop and the Creators Program and a resident at places like SPACE on Ryder Farm and The National Winter Playwrights Retreat. My work has been seen across America and in Mexico, Canada, and the UK. This has all been the result of hours of work not only writing, but preparing submissions, reaching out for meetings, and assembling wonderful teams to bring a project to its feet.
Now, I'll be heading out to Los Angeles where I'll learn to apply everything I do in theater to film and TV!
If you feel inspired, I’ve started this GoFundMe page to help with the move across the country. I’m going to be paying for school with a combination of scholarships and loans, but the move out to LA requires its own budget. Anything you are able to donate would be so appreciated and would go towards my relocation. Thank you for investing in me if you are able!
