Help Alex Leave A Legacy

Alexander Fietz Saldarriaga passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 3. His life story was one of incredible courage and achievement. He lived on the streets of Colombia as a small child and had very few years of elementary school education and almost none of secondary. Yet, he became fluent in four languages, earned his GED, his bachelor's degree at the University of Buffalo, and was working towards his masters in teaching English to non-native speakers in order to help immigrant children become full participants in United States society.

We’re working together to raise education funds for his children, a girl (age 8) and a boy (age 5). An education fund is particularly fitting given that Alex saw so much value in education and understood how it made it a significant impact on his life, as well as that of his two brothers. He was very personally involved in the education of his children and in their enrichment experiences. Thank you for any contribution towards Esmeralda and Piero's education.
