This March I will be running 26.2 miles at the Tokyo Marathon to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charity and to earn my 6th star!
RMHC is a global organization that assists the families of children requiring medical care. They provide a home away from home during a difficult time when the necessary hospitals or treatment facilities are not conveniently located for these families, and I can personally say that I know of those who have benefited from their services. Anyone who has had a loved one fall ill can imagine sleeping on hospital couches for days at a time, eating simple meals and potentially worrying about your responsibilities to other children or family members. Illness can be physically, emotionally and financially taxing, and I can think of no better cause that aligns with my enthusiasm for increased accessibility to health care for those in need. All donations made will directly contribute to food and facilities that ease the burden that comes with caring for sick children across Japan.
For those who don't know, the Abbott World Marathon Majors are the six largest and most renowned marathons in the world. Many in the running community consider it a lifetime achievement to complete all six, thus becoming a "six star finisher." There are just over 17,000 six star finishers worldwide, with an average age of 50 at the time of completion. Of those, less than 6,000 are female, and less than 90 are females under 30. This crazy journey began for me in 2021, and became one I didn't even know I was on until I was halfway through. It has combined my love of running and travel, taking me to NYC, Boston, Chicago, London and Berlin, and taught me discipline in the form of countless back to back training cycles. Now, I aim to join the ranks of finishers and run my final major in Tokyo this spring with Ronald McDonald House Charity!
Please consider donating to celebrate health in the form of support for this wonderful cause and support of my personal goals. Any amount would mean the world to me and I thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart!
