My name is Alexis and I am a Life Scout in BSA Troop 1923G, a female troop in Queens, New York.
I am raising funds for my Eagle Scout project which will include constructing a free book library for PS 163Q and a book drive to collect children's books to benefit the diverse community of Flushing Heights in Queens, NY.
As a former student of PS 163Q, my project is a meaningful way to give back to a school that has taught me and many other students so much. It is also an opportunity to help the community. PS 163Q supports many families in the neighborhood by providing an English-Chinese dual language curriculum that integrates bilingual learning into the classrooms at an early age. The free book library and book drive will provide a resource to the community by making available both English and bilingual English-Chinese children's books to promote literacy.
