Alexi Decoeur was diagnosed in April 2023 with Primary Mediastinal B-Cell Lymphoma.
A rare type of childhood cancer.
He endured 6 rounds of chemotherapy from April to August 2023 which allowed him to be considered baseline remission in October of 2023. After routine scans in April 2024, he received the news that he had relapsed. He started 4 rounds of immunotherapy which spanned over 3 months. Unfortunately, his cancer did not show any response to this type of treatment. The upside is that he was able to enjoy his summer with no side-effects from the immunotherapy.
In June, Alexi went to Sick Kids in Toronto for a Stem Cell Collection as the end goal is for him to receive an autologous bone marrow transplant that can cure his cancer completely. In the interim, Alexi needed to undergo more treatment in order to shrink the cancer and tumor small enough to get him to transplant. Alexi and his family had big decisions about what treatment he was to do next.
In September 2024, Alexi opted for 2 more rounds of stronger chemotherapy, which he tolerated very well. Scans showed that even though his mass and cancer did regress, it wasn’t enough to get to transplant. Alexi is now heading to Boston in the next few weeks to undergo 20-25 rounds of proton radiation (a treatment not offered in Canada) at the Massachusetts General Hospital, in hopes that this protocol will be enough for him to get his transplant procedure. The treatment plan in Boston will require Alexi and family to be there from Monday to Friday for 4-5 weeks and the transplant will also require Alexi and family to be in Toronto at Sick Kids for another 4-5 weeks.
He is not out of the woods.
Since day 1, Alexi has proven to be a fighter, a young man who doesn’t complain about what he’s going through and always tries to make the best out of his situation, still making everyone laugh along the way. His strength, courage, and positivity are an example to us all going through hard times. Luckily, he has been surrounded by great friends and family. No child should ever have to go through this! No family should endure the pain of seeing their child suffer through it. It has been a year and a half of fight and sacrifice and Alexi has not and will not give up. He will beat this! His goal is to be able to go to prom this year and graduate with his friends, and we know he’s got this because he’s a warrior!
We are asking the help of our family, friends and our community to show their support to this courageous warrior named Alexi and to his family as they navigate these difficult times, and will have to be uprooted to be in Boston and Toronto which will incur extra costs to them. Every little bit helps and I know the family would be forever grateful.
Thank you in advance for your Support!!

All funds will be sent to the family :)
