Alex's Thailand Adventure

Thank you for visiting my volunteer page!

In early January 2015, I will be traveling across the world to Chiang Mai, Thailand to embark on the adventure of a lifetime! I've taken the biggest risk of my life by quitting my banking career and signing up for a 2 month stint in a Buddhist monastery where I will be teaching English to monks. After that, I will fulfill another huge dream by volunteering in a Thai orphanage.
Traveling and experiencing other cultures has always been my passion, and the fact that I am getting the opportunity to see the world while helping others will be the most exciting thing I've ever done. Not being much of a risk-taker by nature, this is also the scariest thing I have ever done! However, I feel called to this experience so I know I am doing the right thing. I've come to realize that life is short, and we must spend it following our passions and doing what makes us happy.
Every person who has helped and supported me is a part of this journey. I never would have been able to build the courage to take this leap if I didn't have people in my corner telling me that I'm not crazy to do this! (Or, that I am crazy, but that it's ok.) I am taking donations basically for living expenses and I have created a blog at www.alexandracarolyn.com (currently under construction) where I will be documenting my adventures so you can see what I am doing. I truly hope that by sharing my experiences, maybe I can inspire someone else to follow their dream - whatever that may be.
