Alexa’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
My daughter Alexa is only 10 years old and has been a victim of bullying. She is currently hospitalized at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in the inpatient psychiatry unit. She has been diagnosed with PTSD related to the bullying and major depression disorder. Alexa has had thoughts and attempts in committing suicide and has been seeing a psychiatrist and therapist since April but needed to be hospitalized becasue she was a danger to herself.
We are now into our third week of Alexa being hospitalized and we are trying our best as her parents to remain positive and optimistic. Our family, friends and community are behind us 100% and continue to uplift Alexa in prayers and words of encouragement.
Moving forward, we are looking at long term goals for our daughter and are searching for the best therapy options for her to have when she is discharged. Unfortunately, our insurance only covers very few therapists who treat pediatric patients. We were told by her inpatient therapist that the “BEST” therapists are not covered by insurance and only accept private pay. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get our daughter back, but I know her recovery cost will add up. With her medical bills, copays and medication refills, we know therapy is a crucial part of her recovery. I’m asking for help for Alexa so she can get the best care without a price behind it.
Alexa’s long term goals are to help other kids who are younger than her who are victims of bullying know when to speak up before it’s too late. We are creating shirts in support of Alexa and to help spread awareness of the effects of bullying and to tell her story.
Anything helps,
Thank you.
God bless
