ALEXA’S GENDER REASSIGNMENT SURGERY

Hello Everyone,

My name is Alexa Lewis and I’m a transgender woman. I’ve lived in my truth since I was 27 years old, coming out fully to my family at 28.

Since I came out as trans I’ve been awaiting my initial appointment for gender reassignment surgery with Charing Cross gender clinic for half a decade. About three years ago I was told it would be up to a years wait for an initial appointment (just to be seen and acknowledged) three years on and nothing has come from this.

I have been in contact numerous times with charrings cross only to be dismissed or told the wait has been extended ‘because of Covid’.

At 32 years old I have funded all of my own surgery/appointments and hormone medication. Including a private gender care assessment.

I work 5 days a week as well as resorting to a members website to save for my surgery.

As I feel like I am getting nowhere with the NHS I am looking to save for my surgery and have this final gender confirming surgery in Thailand. As it stands I almost have half of the cost of this surgery in savings.

I’m using gofund me as a last resort to fund my surgery. I appreciate any share or donation and of course understand that times are incredibly tough right now as we’re in the midst of a pandemic so I fully understand if anyone is unable to donate and of course no one is obliged too and I thank you for just taking the time to read my story.

I appreciate everyone’s continued love and support over the years and can only express my gratitude for allowing me to be honesty and share this part of my journey with you all.

This surgery has always been something I’ve held back from talking about as I feel vulnerable opening up about something so personal but with everything going on in the world right now I want to really focus on what’s important in my life.
