This is Alexandru’s Story
After having a seizure in January 2025, alex was taken into a&e, no scans were performed and he was told that he had epilepsy and a referral to the clinic was put in place. After another seizure and still no answers, Alex searched further afield and went to Romania for private care in March 2025. In Romania it was discovered that Alex had a brain tumour and he returned back to England. It was not confirmed by the doctors in the UK until late April and he was booked in for urgent brain surgery in May. Unfortunately during surgery Alex suffered a stroke and they were only able to remove 80% of the tumour.
Alex spent the best part of a month in hospital gaining back mobility, as he had lost all the use of his left side and couldn’t gain his movement in his left arm at all!
In June he came home to and started his chemotherapy, unfortunately after his first dose he was diagnosed with a blood clot on his lung, put on blood thinners. Unfortunately just a few weeks later on Tuesday 29th July 2025 we were told that alex had a bleed on the brain and swelling. This journey has just gone from bad to worse, as Saturday 2nd August we were told that Alex had a life threatening condition where his tumour had grown to 3x the size and his brain was leaking into his brain stem and he passed peacefully later that day.
This journey started for Alex and the family almost 8 months ago to the day, although it has felt like an eternity. Alex was just 42 years old, and was a beloved husband and father of 2 gorgeous children.
He was a well loved member of the community as a local tradesman, friend and family man.
Alex was a Romanian national and proud, and despite trying to wait to say goodbye to his family who were arriving on Tuesday 5th August, his fight ended and he suddenly and peacefully passed on Saturday, before they could say their goodbyes.
As you can understand these last 8 months have been hell for Alex’s wife Sammi, she has been the soul carer in his life and due to this has had to take significant time off work. Also, Alex himself was self employed so after his first seizure in January his work came to a sudden end due to not being able to use power tools or drive. Therefore, the household income has had a 75% loss which as you can appreciate in the current climate is extremely significant.
This page is for the kind souls of the community to ask for your help to donate what you can and if you cannot then to share as far and wide as possible. Alex’s wife has asked for this page as she has been overwhelmed with messages of how people can help at this very difficult time, so this has been set up to raise funds for his final goodbye and give him the send off that he truly deserves.
