Alexandria's Mother Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected
Alexandria's mother, Young-Heui was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer and cerebral infarction (stroke) in mid-June 2016.

She's been taking medications for the stroke. The stroke left her with severe short term memory loss, tunnel vision, and problems using her right arm. Her short term memory loss is very severe. She had trouble remembering how to do simple things; such as how to open a  door or she would forget where the light switches are in her apartment. She could not work for 6 monthes, because of the memory loss. She was unable to drive or even take public transportation. In December, she moved within four minutes walking distance of her work, but due to her strain of the cancer treatments and the problems from the stroke, it is hard for her to keep up with her work duties as she used to.

Young-Heui has been put on a variety of medications to help with the side effects of the stroke and cancer treatments and she struggles every day to remember to take them. Her loss of independence has left her depressed and frustrated. Though she is getting better on many levels every day, she still has a long road to recovery.

On June 27th of 2016, she had surgery to get her ovaries and womb removed. The  doctor said he did not touch her liver and spleen due to extreme blood loss during the surgery. Along with the surgery she has been receiving chemo every three weeks.  These treatments are a strain on her, as they require her to be admitted to the hospital for three days each time. After each chemo treatment, she had a follow up blood check to check her white and red blood cell count. When her white blood cell count was too low, she could only eat fully cooked foods, had to avoid contact with the public, and if severe enough, be admitted to the hospital. Sometimes the situation was severe enough that she required a blood transfusion to keep her red blood cell count normal.

The cancer has been taking a toll on her through the chemotherapy sessions. Although, her Doctor seemed optimistic that they would be able to treat the cancer we were warned that it had a high recurrence rate.

The chemo has been helping fight the cancer, but it came with side effects. It has worsened her mobility, and reduced her vision. It is to the point that she  can’t use chopsticks to eat  and has a hard time writing. With constant changes to  her vision, she had hard time walking and doing daily tasks. As such, simple things like grocery shopping are nearly impossible for her to do.

After her 6th chemo, she had a PET, MRI, and CT scan. Her doctor said the two tumors that were in her liver and spleen had disappeared, and another tumor on her liver was unlikely to be cancerous. We were all so happy for her recovery.

However, she had a follow up appointment in February and the cancer had reoccurred. The cancer has spread to her shoulder and spine. The doctor said the cancer is aggressive, and now is getting chemotherapy every 2 weeks. He also said he can't do surgery to remove cancer from her bones.

On top of her continuous medical bills. She could not work for 6 months after her surgery and she has had no income.

Your donation will help her cost of living and medical bills.

Please help! Even a $1 would help tremendously.
