Hi Everyone,

I’m writing to let you know about our friend Alex, from CMU. Many of you may not know this but Alex has been enduring a very long battle with cancer, which has unfortunately taken a bit of a turn. Alex is a single parent with two beautiful kids, a daughter in college and a son in middle school. Alex, being the dynamo that she was in college, has single-handedly raised her two children, while working full-time and battling cancer all at once. Unfortunately, some of the medications she needs are placing a financial burden upon her. I’m reaching out to you all, on her behalf, because she didn’t feel comfortable, nor did she ask for any help. But it’s apparent that if anyone deserves support, especially in this phase of her fight, it’s Alex. While folks think about others, some in the media or people whom you know who are fighting their own private battles with an illness, please consider lending a hand to Alex and offering whatever support you can. I can tell you that in the conversations I’ve had with her, she has been so incredibly taken aback by the small tokens of support offered her. Small gestures can mean a great deal to someone who is experiencing a life-altering health issue. Let’s show her that CMU cares and offer our support.

With Alex's approval, I’ve set up a Gofundme page on her behalf. Please note, that Alex is an incredibly private woman who again, didn’t ask for help. So, please share this on private channels only, nothing public like Facebook or other. It is important that we honor her wishes while offering our support.
