I was robbed

I was robbed.

On Wednesday, July 24th (Pioneer Day-- it's a real holiday in Utah) I drove up to the mountains to take pictures along the Alpine Loop . I woke up at 3:30am for this. I got to my first location at 5:45am. I walked 50 meters away from the dugout my car was at, following a trail to get to my first picture spot. I took pictures between 6-7am and in that time, between 6:20am and 6:50am, a group parked behind me, broke into my car, robbed me, and left.
Granted! I did leave the car unlocked. That was dumb. But it was 6 o'clock in the morning and I was in the mountains. I honestly didn't think anyone else would come by, especially anyone who wanted to steal. I thought they had parked behind me and were getting ready to hike the trails around the area. I was close enough that I could hear the thieves, but the trees were too thick for me to see them. Something told me not to go back to my car until it sounded like they left.
But what was stolen?! Well that is an unfortunate topic.
Most importantly, they stole my wallet.
Wallet contained:
-debit card (which they spent $90 on at Target and 7 Eleven before I could cancel the card)
-credit card (which they spent $60 on at Macey's before I could cancel the card)
-my Driver's License
-multiple Target gift cards (probably $50)
-at least $70 in cash
-$5 starbucks gift card
-my Costco Card
-Visa gift card (probably $25)
-Longmont Library card
-LDS Limited Use Temple Recommend
-various other gift cards
-two years worth collection of ticket stubs
...among other things.
They also stole my makeup bag with ~$15 worth of lipstick
They stole my favorite purse which is now out of stock. The purse had sunglasses, hand lotion, pens, and pencils.
They stole a (mainly empty) bottle of dōTerra essential oil Citrus Bliss.
They also opened my trunk and stole a large blue fluffy blanket and a large decoration duvet pillow that matched my bedspread and is no longer sold.
The glovebox and compartment between the front seats was rummaged through, and everything that was in each of those locations was left on the seats. As far as I'm aware, nothing was taken from those places.

So yeah, it sucks. And there is a lot of blame on me for not locking the car.

I have reported this to the police. The County Sheriff at the mountains, and to the local stations of each place they used my cards before I canceled them. I've also talked to management at each of the stores. I haven't gotten a lot of help. It sucks and I'll probably never see my stuff again.
The thieves even left something in the car! A key chain with a car key and a barcoded tag for some body spray tan place. Assumedly, you should be able to go to that place and scan the code and it would bring up someones account. Who knows if that's been done. And yes, the key chain could be another victims. But check. (Update... apparently the key chain was from another victim who lives in Orem)

So your local poor college student is even poorer, she's traumatized, and she's kicking herself for not doing the most basic of actions. And she needs to replace her stuff (as much as she can).
