Alexa is a strong, independent, beautiful single mother to two boys; fiancé; oldest daughter; and big sister to three siblings. She’s been challenged a lot in life, to which she has always met it with determination, fierceness, and grace. Her family is asking for support - both prayers and financially - to help her defeat this new challenge of breast cancer. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of added stress due to unexpected surgeries and medical costs. Her journey thus far has been much more difficult than we thought it could ever be.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, love, and kindness - no matter what form it comes in. Alexa is a rock for everyone and now it’s our time to be one for her. Here is her story:

Alexa was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2024. She underwent a double mastectomy in March 2024.

Unfortunately, Alexa began having complications within the first week of recovery. She was admitted to the hospital where she underwent two additional surgeries over a 2 week hospital stay. The second surgery resulted in removal of the spacers, as the doctors were concerned about infection. When her incisions failed due to unhealthy skin and it was negative for infection, doctors continued to investigate via biopsies.

Alexa was then diagnosed with a very rare autoimmune disease that is attacking her skin. She is currently undergoing therapies to control her immune system.

Her third surgery was required to clean up her incisions and wounds that were not healing. A fourth surgery was performed in which a skin graft from her leg was used to help heal her surgery sites. Thankfully, she recovered well from that fourth, and final, surgery.

Chemotherapy started on June 3rd. She will undergo 12 weeks of infusions.

Despite it all, God is still good in this. We are feeling his presence and finding His blessings in the darkest corners.
