I am Alexa Mallow. I am 23 and work for the Kansas City Autism Training Center. I underwent a brain surgery to remove a tumor found. The tumor was sent for a pathology report and I was diagnosised with Glioblastoma Multiforme, a type of brain cancer, on Thursday May 31st. I will be went through radiation for 5 days a week for 6 weeks alongside a daily dose of chemo through form of an oral pill. A month after this treatment scans showed something suspicious which sent us down to Duke for a second opinion. After their push to get a spinal MRI, we have found that I have an extremely rare condition called leptomeningeal disease meaning the cancer has spread to my cerebral spinal fluid. Unfortunately this has a very short life expectancy and therefore I have made the decision to take the time to live out my dreams of traveling the world. Monday saved through this fund will go medical expenses, living expenses as I won’t be working and receiving income, and travel expenses.
