Together with the friends & family of Alex Martinez we are asking for your love, prayers & most importantly financial donations. Recently & unexpectedly, Alex had to undergo quadruple bypass heart surgery. He is now on the path to recovery & in dire need of your help.
A few weeks ago, Alex noticed swelling in his feet, and then it advanced to his legs. From the knee down he was retaining fluid in both legs. He also began to hold fluid in his lungs. Alex made an appointment to see his doctor. Upon arrival and examination the doctor referred him to the emergency room. Xavier & Yvonne, Alex's son & daughter in-law, immediately rushed him to the emergency room. The ER doctor was astonished that Alex was doing as well as he was. He was told that he should be dead in his condition, and since he wasn't he was only days if not minutes away from having a massive heart attack. Alex was in shock. He had a difficult time making the decision & agreeing to the surgery due to his finances. Through a lot of prayer and encouragement from his family he agreed to go through with it and scheduled his surgery. The doctors performed a quadruple bypass and now, for the rest of his life, Alex only has 40% use of his heart. The doctors said two of the arteries were like concrete and that Alex as lucky to be alive.
Alex is now resting & recovering at home. He is participating in a cardiac rehab program, has a strict diet and has to take several heart medications. The diet and medications will be a lifelong necessity. He will not be able to return to work for several weeks, if not several months.
Many friends and family members have been concerned and have asked how they can help. The number one way you can help is with a financial donation. Any and all funds will go directly to Alex to pay for his medical expenses. Each doctor visit to his cardiologist is $65. Each rehab session is $65. These visits are weekly for the next few months. He also has many prescriptions that are required to maintain his heart condition; these will be a lifelong expense at a few hundred dollars per month. He has not received the hospital or doctor bills from his day of surgery or the weeks spent in the hospital post-operation. These expenses will be extreme.
Alex is a strong, faithful, humble, hard-working man that very seldom asks for help of any kind. He is already anxious and stressing out at the idea of all the expenses and debt coming his way.
Anything you can do to help Alex is greatly appreciated.
