Out of the blue, on Nov 4th 2019, I was diagnosed with a GI bleed in the ER in Tulare CA. They transferred me to Hanford where they had a GI specialist. They performed a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. Where they learned the bleed was caused by a mass in my colon. The gastroentrologest, having many years of experience believes it to be cancerous. The plan of action was to remove the mass ( laproscopic hemicolonectomy with hand assist), which they did along with part of my colon. At this time they also removed the lymph nodes from the effected area to assess the extent of growth. We continue to await the pathology results on the growth. If it is positive for cancer I will then under go chemotherapy. My stay in the hospital was 7 days. The dollar amount is a low estimate of what our costs will be after insurance coverage has paid their part. We not only did not expect these expenses but could not have in any way foreseen such a hardship on our family. I will now be out of work healing for at least 6 to 12 weeks, possibly more if I will need chemo. Any help financially or prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
