Alex Speare

Alex Speare, unaware of the turn his life was about to take, lost his lower right leg due to an emergency amputation on October 5th, 2020. He is everything we all want to be, a loving husband, a caring father, a trustworthy colleague, grandfather, coworker, and dependable friend.

Alex, a diabetic, was being treated for a routine wound that suddenly went septic, leading to an unforeseen, life-altering, below-the-knee amputation.

Now, while daily subsistence itself will be a challenge, the medical costs will destroy his family lives, wiping out his retirement savings and possible his children’s.

Alex has been out of work since September 21st, 2020 and his medical bills are surely to rise as he faces months of therapy and ultimately will receive a prothesis. At that point, Alex will have to learn how to walk again, utilizing his new, artificial leg.

Fortunately, he has two wonderful children—Devonand Kai—a supportive wife—Karola—and a precious grandson, David—to support him through his physical and emotional recovery.

“Alex was born to help people,” it is said of him. These lifelong attributes nurture and mentor the lives of all who know him. For his friends, he was the place to go for advice and counsel, a shoulder we would like to have next to us in difficult times.
