Alex Shefcik's Motorcycle Accident

On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, my friend and co-worker Alex Shefcik was involved in a motorcycle accident.

Alex has suffered severe injures as a result of the accident that include:

- Several facial fractures and lacerations

- Collar bone fractures

- Broken left elbow and wrist with ligament damage

- Several fractures in the left and right tibia and fibula bones requiring multiple pieces of hardware near the knee and ankle

- A large open skin wound on the right leg that could result in infection and dead tissue

-Missing muscles in the right leg which will prohibit walking

-Missing bones in the right leg and knee that will require hardware in order to possibly function

-Missing and damaged ligaments and tendons in the right knee which prohibits him from walking.


All injuries will require several months of rehab and therapy, multiple pieces of expensive medical equipment.


I will post updates from Amy, Alex’s wife, as I get them regarding his right leg, but as of right now, the doctors are still trying to figure out a way to save his leg.


Alex is the General Manager of the Buffalo Wild Wings in Shorewood, Illinois. He is sorely missed by his staff who adored his kindness, sense of humor, and leadership.

Alex is also an avid hockey player, golfer, and spent a lot of time promoting and marketing for his restaurant. His once active lifestyle is going to drastically change. If the Doctors are able to save his right leg, he will most likely always need some type of assistance. The muscles that are missing in his leg allow a person to flex their foot. He will not be able to do that. The missing tendons allows a person to kick their leg forward, which he would need to walk. He will not be able to recover that on his own.
