On Friday, July 25th, my dear uncle Alex Scofield suffered a devastating fall from a roof while working a side job. He broke two bones in his wrist and fractured his L5 vertebrae. These serious injuries required surgery on both his wrist and his back, and he now faces a long and painful recovery. Doctors estimate he will be out of work for the next 3 to 6 months.
Alex is the sole provider for his family. His wife, Chrissy, just gave birth to their first child a couple of weeks ago, and as of August 1st, their medical insurance is set to run out. This unexpected accident has placed a huge financial and emotional burden on their young family.
We’re asking for your help to ease that burden. Every donation will go directly toward covering medical expenses, basic living costs, and supporting Chrissy and their newborn during Alex’s recovery.
If you’re able to give, any amount is deeply appreciated. Please share this campaign and keep the Scofield family in your prayers during this difficult time.
Thank you for your support.
Update:
Alex has been readmitted to the hospital due to uncontrollable pain. A new neurosurgeon has evaluated his condition and shared that a different procedure should have been done initially. However, at this point, we must move forward with the current circumstances.
He will be fitted with a body brace to help immobilize his spine and relieve pressure from his back. Once stabilized, he will be transferred to an in-patient physical therapy facility. Alex has a long and challenging road to recovery ahead.
We ask for your continued prayers—those are the most important and powerful gifts you can offer right now. If you're able to contribute, donations are deeply appreciated and will go directly toward his ongoing care and recovery.
Thank you for your support, love, and prayers.
Update 2
Alex underwent a second surgery on Thursday to address an infection, which he’s now being treated for. He’ll require IV antibiotics for 8–12 weeks, but arranging for this treatment at home has been difficult due to his lack of insurance.
A third surgery will be necessary in 6–12 months to remove the hardware that was placed during his initial operation. It's going to be a long and challenging journey for this young family. Alex remains in the hospital for at least a few more days.
We are incredibly grateful that the infection was caught when it was. His attending physician had already signed discharge papers, but thanks to a nurse’s concern and the intervention of his current neurosurgeon—who decided to reopen the incision and found clear signs of infection—it was detected and addressed just in time.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.
