Alex "Poe" Ricke's TBI Fund

Donation protected
Alex Ricke is a man whose generosity knows no bounds. His laughter is contagious and his goofy smile will warm your soul. He would give the shirt from his back and the shoes from his feet to anyone in need. He is passionate, fearless, and unwavering in his support. But right now, he needs OUR support.

Early Sunday morning on October 20th, Alex was brought to Trinity in Rock Island. After imaging, they determined he had such a severe brain bleed that he needed to be helicoptered to OSF Peoria. He was rushed into surgery immediately upon arriving. He received a craniotomy where they removed 40% of his right skull bone. By the grace of God, he survived surgery. He was on life support and minimally responsive.

It has currently been a week since his surgery. He can wake for brief periods of time where he may or may not be lucid. He has been taken off the ventilator and can successfully breathe on his own. He can respond when spoken to and has the ability to respond to basic commands. However, he is weak with little to no movement on the left lower half of his body. He cannot be roused long enough to eat on his own. He will remain without a skull bone on his right side for several months. His stay in the ICU will be long and arduous. His journey is just beginning and we desperately need your help.

Alex is 28 years old. He is a son, a brother, and a friend. He is young and had a bright and fulfilling future ahead of him. Doctors have informed us that, with his level of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), his hospital stay could potentially last for MONTHS. These kinds of bills are crippling and we haven't even gotten started yet. Anything you can give will go into a separate account for Alex to pay for his expenses. This battle for his physical and mental health is going to be grueling. The one thing we CAN do for Alex at this point is to try to ease some of the financial stress when he finally comes back to us.

Let's try to keep Alex's head above water so he can focus on his recovery. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
