Alex Poole's Cancer Battle Lost - Family Support
Donation protected

UPDATE: October:
After living on one income for 8 months, my amazing husband and father to our 3 year old and unborn twins lost the battle of an aggressive rare cancer never before seen in Oregon. As a full time working mother and being pregnant with twins, our financial constraints have become a serious issue. With life insurance being minimal because of his age, and our savings and donations from February used, my paycheck will barely cover our mortgage and our 3 kids daycare fee leaving nothing left behind for bills or living expenses.
Please help my family focus on what matters, healing and supporting our growing family without the financial fear of losing our house or paying our bills.
FEBRUARY, 2021
Alex Poole, 37, husband and father, son, brother, friend, beloved SELCO employee and dungeon master, is dealing with unimaginable circumstances and our little family has been shaken to the core. 24 hours after walking into a clinic with health concerns, he was rushed into emergency open heart surgery after finding an extremely large mass in his heart 7 cm long. 3 days later, we found out that the mass was a rare form of malignant cancer called a cardiac sarcoma, an aggressive tumor that clings to soft tissue and had taken up a large portion of the atrium in his heart. This kind of cancer has very little research on it and no one in our state can operate on or help him, so we are called to California to a doctor who specializes in cardiac sarcomas for a possible long term stay.
This will mean uprooting our family, paying our mortgage on our home while living in California for an undetermined amount of time. On top of everything else, we will need to cover the loss of half of our income while paying for medical bills in the process.
There are many unknowns in our journey including a path to a possible heart transplant and/or partial reconstruction of his atrium and time is of the essence.
What we do know is this will be a long drawn out and difficult journey and we need all the love and support and help we can get.
Its time for our favorite dungeon master and my superman to roll a NAT 20 and slay the biggest, nastiest monster. Ever.
