Alex Needs Us: Rare Cancer Fight

Hi, my name is Roxana. I’m married and a proud mom to two wonderful little girls.

I’m reaching out to help my brother, Alex Castaneda, who was recently diagnosed with metastatic small bowel and large bowel cancer—a rare and aggressive form of cancer that has already spread throughout his body.

Alex is 46 years old. On April 13, 2025, he went to the hospital with severe stomach pain. Just two days later, he underwent major surgery to remove as much of the cancer as possible. Unfortunately, not all of it could be removed.

On May 27, he had a port placed and is scheduled to begin chemotherapy May 29.

Although Alex has insurance, it doesn’t come close to covering the costs of treatment, medications, transportation, and basic living expenses while he’s unable to work. Because his immune system will be severely weakened, he’ll need to isolate and take every precaution to avoid infection—especially anything that could compromise his treatment.

This is a devastating diagnosis, and we’re doing everything we can to stay strong and faithful. We’re praying for healing, and trusting that God—and the kindness of others—will help carry us through.
